
Rev. Dr. Willie B. Johnson is from Shreveport, Louisiana. He is a product of the 8th Episcopal District of the North Louisiana Conference, where his father, Rev. Willie B. Johnson Sr. and his grandfather Rev. Garfield Johnson pastored as Itinerant Elders. Rev. Dr. Johnson accepted the call to preach under the leadership of the late Rev. Kevin Washington of Mary Sprinhill A.M.E. Church, and he was licensed to preach on April 13, 2003. Rev. Dr. Johnson served three years on the Ministerial Staff at Mary Springhill, and was ordained an Itinerant Elder on October 13, 2007, in the North Louisiana Conference by Bishop C.G. Henning.
Upon transferring to the 2nd District, Washington Conference, Rev. Dr. Johnson served eight years under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Harry L. Seawright and Rev. Sherita M. Seawright (now Bishop and Episcopal Supervisor) at Union Bethel A.M.E. Church. Rev. Dr. Johnson served as Director of Youth Ministries and Coordinator of the Union Bethel North location, where he was entrusted with full preaching and Bible study responsibilities. Under his leadership, Bible Study and Church attendance grew exponentially.
Rev. Dr. Johnson has been happily married to Tina Johnson for 33 years. They are the proud parents of two adult sons, Blake and Bralen. Blake is married to Brittany, and together they have a daughter, Breya. Mrs. Tina Johnson has been an active, present, and supportive ministry partner throughout Rev. Dr. Johnson’s service. She has worked in the insurance industry for more than 25 years and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management.
Rev. Dr. Johnson earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Grambling State University, where he played football under legendary Coach Eddie Robinson. He also holds a Master of Business Administration and a Doctorate of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and furthered his theological education at Payne Theological Seminary.
Rev. Dr. Johnson has more than 30 years of government experience, he has served 12 years at the municipal level and 21 years in the federal government. His career spans strategic planning, compliance oversight, and sustained collaboration with foreign governments at the executive level. He has also overseen high-impact programs and managed multimillion-dollar budgets.
Rev. Dr. Johnson’s passion is helping people elevate their lives through the powerful teachings of Jesus Christ. His desire is to serve and love God’s people.
